GIFTS OF ANCESTRAL WISDOM

Nothing would be done at all if one waited until one could do it so well that no one could find fault with it.
Cardinal John Henry Newman

Googling the term “Catholic Teachings” results in just under 400,000 website references. Even figuring that half of these are either multiple listings of a single site or are no longer available, that leaves children, youth, and parents around 200,000 websites to search for answers to their questions. While this diversity may reflect the depth and breadth of how our faith is correctly interpreted and lived, it can also provide misinformation and false teachings under the guise of Catholicism.

Aquinas Newman Center will continue to work with Harcourt/OSV publishers to offer two reliable and safe sites where children, youth, and adults can safely and confidently explore their faith.

The websites include age-appropriate games, activities, reflections, discussions, and real life examples of faithful living for Kindergarten through adulthood. Users can also access the electronic Call to Faith test series, the Sunday Scriptures, faith building discussion questions, and general information on the curriculum. In addition, the program calendar for 2009-10 has been uploaded to the site as well.

These websites are maintained and monitored by Harcourt/OSV, the publisher of our text series. Both sites have received an imprimatur, ensuring a level of orthodoxy and reflect the mainstream philosophy of our curriculum and programs. They support children, youth, and adults by reinforcing Catholic Christianity and assist parents in understanding what is being covered in class and/or what the Catholic church teaches and believes.

As a level of precaution and safety, Harcourt/OSV requires that users first register through their parish offices. Users can request a New User Profile by going to the above sites or https://www.calltofaitheconnect.com/account/up_request.php?tryssl=1&. Once approved (usually the next business day), Harcourt/OSV will send you login instructions and a temporary password.
