Individuals who are interested in learning more about or becoming a member of the Catholic Church are invited to journey with the RCIC (children) and RCIA (adults) teams. These journeys explore what it means to be a Catholic in today's world - what the believes and what it confesses, as you journey towards the sacraments of initiation and beyond. It is a faith journey which first touches the mind through a series of Tuesday evening sessions developed to explore the magisterium (teachings) of the faith; and then touches the heart through Sunday morning dismissals during which the Sacred Word is broken open revealing Christ to those on the journey. Along the journey are rest stops in the form of retreats and nourishment through the rites and rituals of our faith. The culmination of the journey is the celebration of the Easter Sacraments followed by the reflections of Mystagogia. Those who have not yet been baptized will have the waters of rebirth poured over them while those who have been baptized in a non-Catholic Christian tradition will profess their belief in the Catholic Church. Together they will then join with those who have been baptized Catholic but not raised in the faith to celebrate the sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist. If you, or someone you know, would like to participate in the RCIC/RCIA journey towards becoming Catholic, please contact Kyle (247-1094 x 226; kyle@aquinasnm.org) for more information and the schedule.
